Christ Church Mayfair
Apprenticeship Scheme
The apprenticeship is an opportunity for men and women to experience part-time or fulltime ("paid") gospel ministry. Our apprentices generally join us for two years, usually full-time, to grow their knowledge of Scripture, develop their godliness of character and skills in ministry. The scheme aims to provide either a useful step on the way to fulltime theological education, or to equip Christians for a lifetime of service in their local churches.
They are part of the national " 9:38 " initiative to encourage ministry training. Apprentices are involved in all areas of church life from preaching to stacking chairs, from organising church weekends to speaking at school assemblies.
Most are given a modest scholarship and otherwise secure financial support from their husband or wife, friends or part-time jobs.
Their training is both on the job with staff (each apprentice has a staff trainer to act as a mentor throughout their apprenticeship) and at the Apprenticeship Workshops on Wednesdays (with expository work, ministry review, prayer and doctrine).
Apprentices are accountable to Richard Coekin, and a great joy to us all.
