Fairfield Church :: Kingston
Sunday School
Children aged 0-14 are catered for during our morning services.
For 0-2 year olds there is a crèche in Bedelsford School’s wonderful soft play room. This could be the best crèche room in any church anywhere in the world!3-4 year olds have a special class including a mixture of play and very simple elements of Christian teaching supported by craft activities.
Children of reception age up to 11 have Sunday School, currently taught in three classes. Here the emphasis is on understanding the bible at an appropriate level and thinking through what it means for the children’s lives. We aim to teach clearly and simply, but our systematic approach of working through key topics and books of the bible means children can go surprisingly deep! We work alongside parents, aiming to complement rather than replace their own Christian upbringing.
From 11-14 the Pathfinder group kicks in. Focussing on the bible, there is good discussion, interaction and encouragement to respond to the Christian faith as individuals of increasing understanding and maturity. The Sunday morning sessions are complemented by regular socials, aimed simply at having great fun in growing friendships.
Once a term the Pathfinders lead the morning service. All the children except the crèche join in for part of the service about once a month, and there are occasional family services.
From 14-18, the CYFA group brings together people from several of our churches into one larger group meeting in Wimbledon on a Sunday evening. Leaders are committed to facilitating a relaxed setting of committed relationships in which the teaching of the bible is explored and tested. Some of the teenagers come to the morning congregation and help out with music or in the crèche.
